.⋆。⋆༶⋆˙⊹ A painter, illustrator, sci-fi writer, and manga artist, Aya Takano has a novel presence on the international art space. She is a prominent figure in the Superflat movement—a contemporary art movement founded by Takashi Murakami which blends traditional and modern-day Japanese aesthetics.
Takano’s work has a diverse variety of influences, ranging from traditional Ukiyo-e paintings, to impressionism, to Gustav Klimt. Her work also spans many different themes, such as science-fiction and love.
A key motif in her work, however, is the presence of androgynous girls, decorated with nude bodies, large eyes, elongated proportions, and soft skin.
Takano can create a world that transcends reality and escapes from gravity’s hold. It is a strange, mysterious, yet beautiful universe, created solely from the inner workings of her mind.
If you follow your bliss, it’ll get you where you want to go. I believe if everyone did that, we would probably live in a really wonderful world.
